Quick resources for common USPS swap search topics:
- Verify your phone number.
- Create one active swap request (craft, employee type, current location, and up to 5 desired locations).
- Check My Matches when a match is found.
- Unlock contact access to reveal details and connect.
2-way swap: two USPS employees in the same craft and employee type agree to swap duty stations simultaneously — Employee A moves to Employee B's location, and Employee B moves to Employee A's location.
3-way swap: three USPS employees can complete a cycle — A moves to B's location, B moves to C's location, and C moves to A's location — so each person reaches a desired location.
These swaps help users connect with potential partners without waiting for a vacancy through the traditional process.
No. MutualSwaps is an independent platform and is not affiliated with or endorsed by USPS.
A match requires a reverse location match, matching craft, and matching employee type (Regular or PTF).
No. MutualSwaps helps users connect with potential match users only. USPS approval is not guaranteed and may depend on factors such as attendance, work performance, and local management decisions.
You can have one active swap request per account. That swap request can include up to 5 desired locations (your current location stays the same). You can edit or deactivate it anytime.
MutualSwaps is free to join and create a swap request. You only pay when you choose to unlock contact access after a match appears.
You are not paying to receive USPS matches/approval. USPS swap decisions are separate. The unlock fee supports MutualSwaps platform operations.
The unlock pass is a one-time $4.99 and lasts up to 30 days.
Optional: if your match is waiting on the other person to unlock, you can use Unlock All to cover remaining unlock fees for that match and reveal contacts faster.
Running MutualSwaps has real costs that come out of pocket every month:
- Web hosting
- Database infrastructure
- Domain name registration and renewal
- Payment processing fees
- Phone number verification
- Time to build, maintain, fix bugs, and support users
The $4.99 unlock fee helps cover these costs so the platform can keep running. Joining is free. Creating a swap is free. You only pay when a match is actually found and you want to connect — which means you're paying for a result, not a promise.
This site was built by one person, out of personal experience with this exact problem. It is not a big company with investors. Every unlock directly supports keeping it alive.
2-way match: both users normally need to unlock before contacts are shown.
3-way cycle: all 3 participants normally need to unlock before all contacts are shown.
Optional: one user can use Unlock All to cover any remaining unlock fee(s) in that specific 2-way or 3-way match so contacts can still be revealed faster.
If you unlock and your matched user does not, contact support for a refund review.
A match unlock pass lasts up to 30 days from purchase.
- Contact your match and confirm both want to proceed.
- Verify eligibility: both users should be employees in the same craft/grade level.
- Submit written requests: both users submit mutual swap request letters to their current Postmaster/installation head.
- Notify local management: share a copy with your immediate supervisor/Postmaster.
- Management approval: both locations must review and approve the swap request.
- Seniority adjustment: seniority is typically set to the lower of the two dates.
- Relocation: moving and living expenses are the employee's responsibility.
When adding a desired location, you can choose a radius of 20, 30, or 40 miles to match with users whose current location is within that distance of your chosen city — not just an exact city match. Choose Exact to require a precise city match.
This is optional and per destination.
Note: Radius matching only works within the same state. Cities within range but across a state border will not match.
Yes — if you unlock and your matched user never unlocks within 30 days, email support@mutualswaps.com for a full refund. We will review and process it promptly.
Outside of that scenario, charges are generally non-refundable, but if you believe you were charged in error, contact support and we will review it.
Your phone number is privately shown only to users in your match after both users unlock.
Contact reveal requests are rate-limited and verified server-side on every attempt — meaning no one can bulk-scrape or repeatedly request contact details. Each reveal is tied to a verified account, a specific matched pair, and an active unlock pass.
